ART SG speaks to Moses Tan about his artist-run collaborative studio

3 Jun 2022

As someone whose practices and spaces revolve around community and collectivity, Moses Tan decided to open Starch. Housed in an industrial complex, the space allows for fresh graduates and fellow artists to experiment, create exhibitions and artist residencies.

“[…] I decided to see if I could develop a one-year project where I could provide the space and support to artists” explains Tan. At Starch, full calendar months are allocated for each engagement and each engaged party decides the amount of time they would like to install, exhibition, artist talk, etc. Artists are also given free will on deciding on the agency the space has.
