Isabel and Alfredo Aquilizan will be exhibiting a large-scale kinetic installation for “Encounters,” curated by Alexie Glass-Kantor, as part of 12 ambitious projects at the 2018 edition of Art Basel in Hong Kong. The artist duo’s “Left Wing Project (Belok Kiri Jalan Terus)” features seven, wing-like kinetic sculptures made from hand-forged sickles hung from the ceiling, counterbalanced by sacks of rice suspended from weighing scales.
Yavuz Gallery will be presenting Isabel and Alfredo Aquilizan’s project at Booth 3E08.
Art Basel Hong Kong will also be holding a talk, “Encounters in Encounters: When the Familiar Becomes Unfamiliar” featuring Isabel and Alfredo Aquilizan with artists Ulla von Brandenburg, Ramesh Mario Nithiyendran, Shinji Ohmaki and curator Alexie Glass-Kantor. The talk happens 29 March 2018, 5–6PM at Room N101B of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
