Caroline Rothwell and Patricia Piccinini at Hazelhurst Arts Centre

Caroline Rothwell and Patricia Piccinini delve into the unconscious, the strange and the fantastical in In the Arms of Unconsciousness: Women, Feminism and the Surreal at Hazelhurst Arts Centre in Sydney. Curated by Carrie Kibbler, this cross-generational exhibition brings together 21 leading female Australian artists that examine feminism and the surreal. Each artist combines artistic techniques including painting, ceramics and photography with elements of the surreal to explore or challenge traditional representations of the female body. 

Rothwell will be part of an artist group talk on 26 August 2023 at 2pm. The exhibition continues until 3 September 2023.

Artists include: Del Kathryn Barton, Pat Brassington, Louisa Chircop, Madeleine Kelly, Deborah Kelly, Juz Kitson, Lucy O’Doherty, Kaylene Whiskey, Jelena Telecki, Lynda Draper, Freya Jobbins, Jenny Orchard, Jill Orr, Julie Rrap, Honey Long and Prue Stent, Marikit Santiago, Anne Wallace and Amanda Williams.
