Caroline Rothwell’s ‘Trees (System)’: A Monumental Tribute to Sydney’s Ecosystem
21 Dec 2024
Caroline Rothwell’s monumental bronze sculpture Trees (System) has been unveiled in Rushcutter’s Bay, Sydney.
Rothwell’s Trees (System) depicts two interconnected botanical specimens linked with linear systems that support a leek orchid, paying tribute to the local ecosystem. They stand over 4 metres tall and 5 metres wide, examining the intricate connections between human infrastructure and botanical growth. Through her unique processes and in collaboration with UAP’s Brisbane fabrication team, Rothwell has transformed her stitched designs into towering bronze in verdigris and carbon graphite patinas.
On view 100 Bayswater Road, Rushcutters Bay, Sydney.
