Cybele Cox in Eden Unearthed, an outdoor sculptural exhibtion

23 Apr 2022

Mystic Kitten by Cybele Cox is currently showing at “Eden Unearthed” a spectacular outdoor exhibition set against the lush greenery of the Eden Gardens in Macquarie Park, New South Wales. Curated by horticultural journalist, Meredith Kirton and is in its fifth year, the show aims to explore the relationship one would have with the environment through the integration of art and nature. The featured artists were encouraged to respond to the site and create works that were results of this process.

“The teamwork and collaboration between those who create and those who nurture is firmly embedded in all of these installations”explains Kirton.

Cox explores the western art canon with an intent to reconstruct ancient Pagan symbols as feminist archetypes to disrupt narratives. With characters and icons from stories of pre-christian mythology, the artist’s work evokes a world where the importance of art and the value of dreamspace seek to envision new ways of imagining ourselves in the world.

Eden Unearthed closes on Saturday, 30 April.
