“These objects are derived from various disciplines of knowledge that are rudimentary to the Malay holistic view of the world… [this] metaphorical thinking will also be further explored to suggest that the conceptual practices in Southeast Asian (SEA) contemporary art production has it relevancy in the contestation arising between the still-pervasive tradition and globalization in the late twentieth century Southeast Asia.”

‘Monument To My Mother’ will be on view at Galeri Petronas from 14 November 2017 – 04 Feb 2018, accompanied by a talk by Htein Lin on 12 November. The installation ‘Monument To My Mother’ was first shown at the artist’s Yavuz Gallery solo exhibition Htein Lin: Recovering the Past.
