Introducing Ames Yavuz London
27 Sep 2024
Ames Yavuz is pleased to announce the opening of a permanent gallery in London in early 2025.
The newly refurbished 2,600-square-foot gallery will be situated in the heart of Mayfair on Grosvenor Hill, close to Berkeley Square and the Royal Academy. The ground-floor, street-facing space will host exhibitions and projects by some of the most renowned artists from Southeast Asia and Australia, bringing a wealth of talent from the Asia-Pacific and beyond to Europe.
Founding Director Can Yavuz says, “London continues to be the beating heart of the art world, and felt like a natural home for Ames Yavuz. Our new space on Grosvenor Hill is going to be a beautiful way to join the conversation in the city’s historical gallery quarter, while bringing something entirely different to the cultural landscape of London. We are excited to present pioneering contemporary artists from the Asia-Pacific in this context, in conversation with voices from Europe, Africa and the Americas. We must celebrate now, more than ever, our global interconnectedness and shared histories.”
The London gallery will be led by Managing Director Ananya Mukhopadhyay and is set to open with a solo show by Filipino husband-and-wife duo Isabel & Alfredo Aquilizan, whose monumental sculptural works have been widely exhibited in institutions across the world. In 2025, Ames Yavuz London will showcase leading Australian artists Vincent Namatjira OAM, Brook Andrew and Patricia Piccinini, and present solo exhibitions by Thai artist, Pinaree Sanpitak and Thania Petersen from South Africa.
The gallery’s international program includes exhibitions and off-site projects across Asia, Australia, Europe and the US, with spaces in Singapore and Sydney.
