Making it Home with Isabel and Alfredo Aquilizan

Artist duo Isabel and Alfredo Aquilizan will be creating their signature awe-inspiring cardboard sculptures for the grand opening of the new expanded wing at the Art Gallery of New South Wales in late 2022.

In this project titled Making it Home, the Art Gallery of New South Wales will be organizing a series of workshops at The Aquilizan Studio until September where visitors are invited to make their own cardboard ‘dream homes’, which may become part of the Aquilizans’ sculpture.

Living and working between the Philippines and Australia, the artists have drawn on their own story of migration to forge an art practice dedicated to understanding the shifting, varied and often complicated definition of home. They are inspired by the power of collective action and create spaces where people can come together through a process of art-making.

Making it Home will be displayed at the Art Gallery of New South Wales till 23 April 2023.
