SAW Spotlight: Yavuz Gallery Panel Talks
10 Jan 2023
With the World: A Conversation with Singapore-Born Galleries
Founder and Director Can Yavuz will speak on a panel conference on Saturday 14 January from 11 am – 1 pm at Gajah Gallery, 39 Keppel Road, #03-04, Tanjong Pagar Distripark. Speakers include Guillaume Levy-Lambert, Stephanie Fong, Jasdeep Sandhu and moderated by Khai Hori.
Today, borders for exchange and communication are porous, if not already invisible. Art and artists flow freely between landscapes and cultures. At international art centres and institutions, dialogues on diversity and equality are very much alive. Galleries of Asian origin stand ever present, located as equal participants and contributors, influencing the tone of the global art arena. As Singapore takes focal point in the international visual arts calendar this January 2023, the panel presents positions and opinions of its leading market players.
Is There a Southeast Asian Art Market, Now?
This year, with recent developments in Singapore pointing to an art market momentum in the region, including the first Sotheby’s sale to be staged in Singapore in 15 years exceeding expectations in August 2022, this panel brings together art market specialists working with, within and beyond the region and across the primary and secondary market, to reflect on the Southeast Asian art market today. Moderated by Nadya Wong, the speaker panel includes Jasmine Prasetio, Can Yavuz, Beverly Yong and Lourdes Samson. The conversation will take place on Saturday 14 January from 4 – 6pm at Art Agenda, 39 Keppel Road, #02-01, Tanjong Pagar Distripark.
