“What I knew was what I remembered from being a kid, that things were supposed to be like this and that. But after a time I realised how it really was, that Buddhism is not really Buddhism. I began to see more on which to comment and criticise — why do people get so drunk during temple fairs, or things like that. I’m always curious and I brought that out and used it as material for my work.”
