Stanislava Pinchuk’s grand installation at the upcoming Art Basel Hong Kong

For this year’s Encounters sector of Art Basel Hong Kong, Yavuz Gallery is proud to present a large-scale sculptural installation by Stanislava Pinchuk.

Curated by Alexie Glass-Kantor, the theme This present, moment considers how we can hold space and presence within the moment.

Consisting of 78 marble sculptures, The Wine Dark Sea tells the story of leaked Nauru and Manus Island cables alongside Homer’s Odyssey. Engraved into the marble are near-identical phrases that have been taken from both sources, and their protagonists swapped; Odysseus becomes [REDACTED], and vice versa.

The Wine Dark Sea will be on view at Art Basel Hong Kong from 22 – 25 March 2023.
