“Today, painting has become, for me, a very visceral thing, a portal through which I lose myself – amidst blurry memories of pushing paint around, breathing fumes, wiping, jabbing and tussling. Most days are shit. But you get that one day when the canvas acquires a life of its own, and that’s enough to get you going again.”
