Ames Yavuz is pleased to announce a solo exhibition of Reko Rennie’s Camofleur series, which will be presented off-site at Gallery 89 in Collingwood. First exhibited in Los Angeles, this body of work has never before been shown in Australia, and its presentation coincides with Melbourne Art Fair 2026.
Rennie’s Camofleur series explores camouflage as both subversion and vulnerability. While camouflage typically attempts to render the visible invisible by disorienting the viewer’s eye, Rennie reverses this logic. His works make camouflage impossible to ignore and amplify identity as a claim to cultural visibility.
Rennie is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice explores his Aboriginal identity through contemporary media, merging Kamilaroi iconography with graffiti-inspired patterning to challenge perceptions of Indigenous culture and identity.
