“Some of the couple’s work has been inspired by the situation of the marginalized Badjao people of southwestern Philippines who live a nomadic existence in stilt houses. They’re being pressured by the national Filipino government to move into land-based settlements and face discrimination as Muslims in the majority Roman Catholic country.

The couple is making a large, site-specific installation in the gallery out of hundreds of pieces of luggage collected by ECUAD.”

The Pacific, the inaugural exhibition at the Libby Leshgold Gallery in the new Emily Carr University of Art + Design, runs from 20 October 2017 to 14 January 2018. Read about the exhibition in the Vancouver Sun here.
