Reko Rennie Named GQ’s Artist of the Year 2024
4 Dec 2024
Congratulations to Reko Rennie — winner of GQ’s Artist of the Year 2024.
Writing for GQ, Nina Miyashita says, “Carving out a space where urban life and his Aboriginal identity could collide and coexist, Rennie took the ethos of graffiti—his very first medium—and has expanded his repertoire across sculpture, neon, sound, installation, and more. But no matter the media, his bold artistic themes and mission remain the same—to challenge First Nations stereotypes, and to demonstrate just how multifaceted and powerful it is to be Blak.”
GQ’s Men of the Year special issue magazine will be available exclusively in The Australian from Friday 13 December.
